Field Application Engineer: South East USA

ROLE PURPOSE 

The Field Application Engineer (FAE) will be working out of a home office in central Florida (preferred, qualified candidates in the Southeast USA may be considered) and will be at the forefront of delivering tailored solutions within the test and measurement industry. Your role will involve collaborating closely with clients to understand their technical needs and challenges, utilizing your expertise to design and implement customized applications using Pickering Interfaces' cutting-edge hardware and software solutions. From conducting product demonstrations and providing pre-sales support to offering post-sales assistance and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, your contributions will be pivotal in ensuring customer success. This position requires a strong technical background, proficiency in programming languages, and effective communication skills to engage with both clients and internal teams. This Position Has Responsibility For: 

  • Technical Consultation: Collaborate with customers to comprehend their technical requirements and challenges within the test and measurement industry.
  • Custom Solutions: Design, develop, and implement customized applications and interface solutions using Pickering Interfaces’ products to meet client specifications.
  • Product Demonstrations: Conduct product demonstrations and training sessions to showcase the capabilities of Pickering Interfaces’ hardware and software solutions.
  • Pre-sales Support: Work closely with the sales team to provide technical expertise in pre-sales activities, including technical presentations, solution proposals, and customer interactions.
  • Post-sales Support: Provide ongoing technical support, troubleshoot issues, and guide customers through successful integration and utilization of Pickering Interfaces’ solutions.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements, and Pickering Interfaces’ product updates. Share insights and best practices with customers and internal teams.
  • Feedback and Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, to provide valuable feedback on product performance, contribute to improvements, and influence the development of new features.
  • Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation, including application notes and technical guides, to enhance the knowledge base and support both internal and external stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills)

To perform the job successfully, the individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Excellent understanding of basic electrical concepts, preferably with prior experience in engineering and/or sales of ATE, switching and/or data acquisition systems.
  • Strong commercial acumen and advanced negotiating skills.
  • An excellent cross-channel communicator.
  • Due to the nature of target customers for this position, it is only open to US citizens or US Green Card holders; Pickering will not sponsor any visa or Green Card requirements.
  • Highly customer focused with customer service orientation.
  • A proactive can-do and positive attitude.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with customers and to interface with a variety of organizations
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Available to travel across the country and abroad as necessary
  • Proficiency in MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Salesforce.com, and database applications

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Previous experience in application engineering, with a focus on test and measurement solutions. Familiarity with Pickering Interfaces’ products is advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge of ATE, switching and or data acquisition systems.
  • Bonus points for: LabVIEW, Test Stand Design, Python, C++, Test Automation, PXI, FMEA, System Design and Integration
  • A history of working within US government prime contractors and demonstrable networks within one/multiple primes is strongly preferred (Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, Honeywell, Boeing, Collins)

Education Requirements 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering preferred.

You have worked for at least two years in the T&M industry and/or Systems Design/Integration and are comfortable engaging with engineering teams on a highly technical level. You enjoy taking on new projects, guiding customers through their projects, providing exceptional customer service, and surpassing customer experience expectations. You can communicate across all necessary departments internally (engineering, production, sales, marketing, executive) to achieve results and can build relationships with your co-workers as you go. You appreciate and thrive in a small, dynamic, nimble, and progressive organization that encourages individual initiative and development. You have an inquisitive nature and understand how to develop accounts at multiple levels, cultivate relationships, mine for information, and apply your technical background to solve customer issues while positioning Pickering to become the preferred supplier in all circumstances.
