In our newest success story, we collaborated with Curtis Instruments to build a second-generation automated test system for checking motor controllers.

To give you some background...As part of the company’s rigorous QA processes, all motor controllers are subjected to thorough functional verification checks. The original ATS entered service in 1998 – and has served Curtis well. However, its continued use has been put at risk by obsolescence issues.

In collaborating with Curtis Instruments to create "ATS 2.0" they now have a versatile test system that is faster and more reliable. Above all else, Curtis has protected itself from component obsolescence.

Using Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Simulation for BMS Testing in Electric Vehicles

BMS systems manage a massive volume of variables and must monitor hundreds of cells and protect the battery from damage due to temperature, vibration, electrical faults, and more. By adding characteristics to the Hardware-in-the-Loop tester, engineers can emulate numerous behaviors and assess BMS performance throughout the intended lifetime of the EV. When integrating HIL systems, organizations should ensure they’re using modular hardware so they can easily scale, modify, or reuse instrumentation as the BMS evolves over time.
